The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Unity Park Nominations — The Unity Park Advisory Committee will accept nominations for 2018 honorees who have contributed to civil rights in Oktibbeha County from Oct. 1 - Nov. 15. ◆ WWI Special Collections at MSU — Oct. 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the John Grisham Room of Mitchell Memorial Library Mississippi State University will host discussion of the Choctaw Code Talkers’ significant role in communications during World War I
