John Miles John­son, 87, of Starkville passed away Fe­bru­ary 22, 2018. Born to John Wes­ley “Johnny” John­son and wife Stella Lela Miles on June 15,1930 in Weir, Mis­sis­sippi, John was a Korean era vet­eran and a 1954 grad­u­ate of Mis­sis­sippi State Col­lege. As were four ear­lier gen­er­a­tions of John­son men, he was a life-long mem­ber of Freema­sons and also a life-long mem­ber of Scot­tish Rites and Shriners.

He is sur­vived by his wife Mar­garet, her chil­dren Pam (Chris) Creely and Shea (Mandy) Tay­lor, and four grand­chil­dren; his chil­dren, Cynthia John­son and David (Suzanne) John­son, his grand­child Wes­ley John­son; his sis­ter Faye Cole­man; and a host of cousins, nieces, and neph­ews. Pre­ced­ing him in death were his par­ents and first wife, Janie L. Wells.

A Me­mo­rial Ser­vice will be held Sun­day, March 4th, 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Starkville. In lieu of flow­ers, Mr. John­son re­quested do­na­tions to Shriner's Hos­pi­tals, St. Jude Hos­pi­tal, MSU De­vel­op­ment Foun­da­tion, or a char­ity of choice. Me­mo­rial Gunter Peel Col­lege St. is in charge of ar­range­ments.
