John Miles Johnson, 87, of Starkville passed away February 22, 2018. Born to John Wesley “Johnny” Johnson and wife Stella Lela Miles on June 15,1930 in Weir, Mississipp­i, John was a Korean era veteran and a 1954 graduate of Mississipp­i State College. As were four earlier generation­s of Johnson men, he was a life-long member of Freemasons and also a life-long member of Scottish Rites and Shriners.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, her children Pam (Chris) Creely and Shea (Mandy) Taylor, and four grandchild­ren; his children, Cynthia Johnson and David (Suzanne) Johnson, his grandchild Wesley Johnson; his sister Faye Coleman; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and first wife, Janie L. Wells.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 4th, 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Starkville. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Johnson requested donations to Shriner's Hospitals, St. Jude Hospital, MSU Developmen­t Foundation, or a charity of choice. Memorial Gunter Peel College St. is in charge of arrangemen­ts.
