classes from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., open swim from noon until 5:15 p.m. and family swim from 5:15 a.m. until 7 p.m., except during swim lessons, then family swim ends at 6:30 p.m. Saturday hours are open swim from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and family swim from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Swimming lessons are available for ages five and up. Sessions are eight total days from Monday until Thursday for two weeks in a row. Sessions are $45 per student and are available June 18 through 21, June 25-28, July 9 -12 and July 1619. Register in person at the pool or at the Starkville Sportsplex.

Also at the Moncrief Park pool, Starkville Parks and Recreation will host Mommy and Me Water Aerobics, low impact aerobics for mothers using their child as resistance and allowing the child to get acclimated to water.

Mommy and Me Water Aerobics will be every Tuesday and Thursday starting June 5. Water aerobics will be 9 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. with free time to splash following at 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m.

The eight sessions cost $40 and are for children age six and below.

Water aerobics classes for ages 20 and up will also be from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting June 5. The eight session class also will be $40.

Cox said the water aerobics classes will be led by fitness instructor Martha Malone, and a lifeguard will also be on duty.

Cox said aerobics helps improve flexibilit­y and resistance win the water.

Starkville Parks and Recreation­s will also host youth kickball for children ages four to seven. Registrati­on lasts until June 1 and costs $30 per player. Registrati­on is available online at www.starkville­registrati­on.com

Movie night will be 7 p.m. June 8 and August 10 in the Sportsplex Gymnasium. Attendees are welcome to bring their own chairs and snacks.

Starkville's Parks, including George Evans Park, J.L. King Senior Memorial Park, Josey Park, McKee Park, Moncrief Park and Patriots Park are open year-round, and they all have various playground equipment, basketball courts, sports fields and outdoor space.

Cox said the Sportsplex Gymnasium is open until 5 p.m. each day for those wanting to play inside or shoot basketball. Admission to the gym is $3 for those 18 and under.

Parks and Recreation is now offering Toddler Time in the gym for toddlers age two to five to allow them time to themselves in the gym to play with mini sports equipment, building blocks, a parachute, a tuner and other activities.

“We wanted to do this to allow the toddlers to have some time in the gym,” Cox said. “A lot of time it's full of older kids playing basketball. It's a time for them to run around if they want to.”

Toddler time will take place at 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. May 24, June 6, June 21, July 12 and July 26; 9 a.m. until noon on May 19, June 16, and August 4; and 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. June 10, July 8, July 22 and August 12. Admission is one canned good item to donate to a local food bank.

Other Parks and Recreation Summer Programs include:

◆ Food Camp from 10 a.m. until noon June 4, 6 and 8. Attendees can decorate cupcakes, make snow cones and ice cream, pizzas and other snacks for $25

◆ Science Camp from 10 a.m. until noon June 11, 13 and

15. Attendees will learn how to make experiment­s out of household items for $25

Camp from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m on June 11-14. Attendees can learn serving, hitting and rules of the game at the Starkville High School tennis courts for $40

◆ Lego Camp from 10 a.m. until noon on June 18, 20 and 22 for children ages five through 12 for $35

◆ Arts and Crafts from 10 a.m. until noon on June 25, 27 and 29. Attendees can create projects on canvas with fused beads, bulletin boards and a ceramic bulldog for $30

◆ Christmas in July from 10 a.m. until noon July 9, 11 and

13. Attendees can create Christmas arts and crafts, including keepsakes and a ceramic ornaments for $25

◆ Arts and Crafts from 10 a.m. until noon July 16, 18 and

20. Crafts will include tiles, fuse beads and woodworkin­g for $25.
