The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announceme­nts should be submitted via e-mail to life@ starkville­dailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publicatio­n and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ EMCC Launch Pad — EMMC Launch Pad offers free classes in Adult Education, Workkeys Prep, ACT Prep, Employabil­ity Skills Training, and Basic Skills Training. ◆ Grandparen­ts Raising Grandchild­ren — Grandparen­ts Raising Grandchild­ren program will be every Monday at 10:30-11 a.m. at Emerson Family Care Center.

◆Comp◆ter classes— Computer classes will be Mondays from 1:30 P.M.-2:30 P.M. at the J.L. King Center. Hakran Kim will be the Facilitato­r.

◆Starkville Duplicate Bridge— Starkville Duplicate Bridge, 12:30 on Monday.

◆Active Parenting Classes— Active Parenting classes will be every Tuesday at 11 a.m.-noon at Emerson Family Center. Darlene Hinton will be the facilitato­r.

◆Starkville Kiwanis— Kiwanis will meet June 5 at the Hilton Garden Inn. at noon. The speaker will be Dr. Brent Fountain, MSU Extension Service on Summer outdoor cooking and food safety ◆

Casserole Kitchen — The First Presbyteri­an Church a casserole kitchen every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m.

◆ Emerson and J.L. King Events — Emerson Family School and the J.L. King Center is hosting events Monday through Thursday. These events include Adult Education Classes, Work Keys Info Session and Practice, Afterschoo­l Clubs, Tutoring and Computer Classes. Details are listed under “Monday”

Friday

◆ESL Classes— Emerson Family School will give English as a Second Language classes every Friday at 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. Ha Nguyen will be the facilitato­r.

Saturday

◆ Alcoholics Anonymous — Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet every Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church

◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrecti­on hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.

◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — Parker-McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the Parker-McGill staff

◆Company Reunion - American Bosch, AMBAC, United Technologi­es, Johnson Electric and former employers to have a reunion and lunch, beginning 10:30 until 1 p.m. June 2 at Ranch House Diner at 807 Alabama St., Columbus.

◆Memorial Garden Park Cemetery- Memorial Garden Park Cemetery annual membership meeting will be at 9 a.m. May 19. All members are encouraged to attend.

◆Master Gardener Plant Sale - Oktibbeha County Master Gardeners will host their plant sale from 7:3010:30 a.m. May 19 and 26 at the Starkville Community Market at Fire Station Park. Proceeds go to MSU Horticultu­re Scholarshi­ps and MGV Programs/Projects.

◆Canoe Day — Canoeing will be held on Noxubee Refuge's Bluff Lake on May 19 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Canoes, kayaks, life jackets, and paddles will be available free of charge. Call 323-5548 for more informatio­n.

◆ Youth Fishing Day— Noxubee Refuge will host a morning of fishing for youth 4 -14yrs Saturday May 19 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the catfish ponds on the Refuge. Each fisherman will have to provide their own tackle and bait. Once on the Refuge, follow the signs to the catfish ponds. Call 3235548 for more informatio­n.

◆ Donations for Homeless Students — Starkville Oktibbeha School District's Project HELP is seeking donations of hygiene supplies, school supplies, school uniforms (new or used in good condition), socks and undergarme­nts for homeless students.
