"The health fair is some­thing we've done for a cou­ple of years, and its ba­si­cally just to make peo­ple aware of be­ing healthy," Carr said. "This year's theme is ‘Healthy, Wealthy and Wise' and we're draw­ing at­ten­tion to mak­ing good choices about your health."

This year's event will also fea­ture free on­site fit­ness classes taught by H.I.I.C. Car­dio In­struc­tor Jen­nifer Gra­ham at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

New to this year, the AKA Health Fair will of­fer on­site vac­ci­na­tions from a Wal­greens phar­ma­cist at lit­tle or no cost with in­sur­ance.

The shin­gles vac­cine Shin­grix and Tdap vac­cine, which is re­quired

for those en­ter­ing sev­enth grade, will be of­fered at the health fair.

The Glam Sta­tion and Spa will of­fer free chair mas­sages for early birds and then for $10 af­ter.

"This is an op­por­tu­nity for us to bring ven­dors to the Sport­splex, be­cause peo­ple are not al­ways able to get out some­times, and this way we can bring ven­dors to the com­mu­nity so they can get these ser­vices done ei­ther for free or at a small cost," Carr said.

Carr said vi­sion and choles­terol screen­ings will be of­fered, and Starkville Po­lice Depart­ment will be on­site to of­fer in­for­ma­tion about healthy liv­ing, such as avoid­ing drink­ing and driv­ing.

"We want peo­ple to be able to get all the in­for­ma­tion about how to live healthy in 2018 and go­ing for­ward," Carr said.
