The Around Town cal­en­dar is a free ser­vice of­fered by the Starkville Daily News. The cal­en­dars runs daily as space al­lows. An­nounce­ments should be sub­mit­ted via e-mail to life@starkvilledai­lynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to pub­li­ca­tion and be no more than 50 words in length. Re­li­gious events will be listed Satur­days on the Faith page. Re­cur­ring events will run on Sun­days only. One-time events will run Mon­day through Fri­day.

◆St◆rgis Sum­mer Read­ing Pro­gram— All chil­dren and their par­ents who live in the Stur­gis-Ok­tibbeha County Area are in­vited to come to the Stur­gis Public Li­brary on June 14 from 10 to 11 a.m.. for a sing- along time with the Starkville Homeschool Mu­sic Cooperative's Ukelele Club. This will be the the first day of the Stur­gis Public Li­brary Sum­mer Read­ing Pro­gram, and all chil­dren are urged to pre-reg­is­ter. A rock col­lect­ing pro­gram and a pro­gram about fire safety are planned for June 21 and June 28 from 10-11 a.m. All chil­dren are en­cour­aged to read books on their read­ing level to com­pete for a prize at the end of the pro­gram on June 28. .

◆NAACP Monthly Meet­ing— Ok­tibbeha County branch of the Naacp monthly meet­ing will be held June 14 at 6 p.m. Court­house on Main Street, last meet­ing be­fore Na­tional Con­ven­tion in San An­to­nio, Texas.
