Peacock named assistant chief of police at The W

COLUMBUS, Miss.-the Mississipp­i University for Women Police Department has announced Lamar Peacock as assistant chief of police.

“I am humbled and very excited to be named the assistant chief of police. I want to thank the hiring committee for placing their faith in me and allowing me this opportunit­y,” said Peacock.

The Columbus native also said he was excited to work with the MUW community and the great people who make the campus a close-knit environmen­t.

“As assistant chief, I will continue to be dutiful, diligent and will work closely with Chief Vibrock, the officers and dispatcher­s of MUW P.D., as well as the faculty, staff and students to ensure a safe environmen­t,” said Peacock.

He has been a member of the MUW Police Department since 2016. Peacock also has served as a patrol officer for the Columbus Police Department, chief marshal for Caledonia Marshall's Office and a deputy sheriff for Lowndes County Sheriff's Department.
