Lions move on in football

SCOOBA – A total of 22 former East Mississipp­i Community College players from Coach Buddy Stephens’ 2018 national championsh­ip team have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their football careers at the four-year level.

Combining last December’s early signing period along with Wednesday’s regular national signing date, EMCC’S most recent additions to the senior college gridiron ranks are comprised of 10 players heading to FBS schools and six to FCS schools as well as five student-athletes inking with NCAA Division II members and one player with an NAIA program.

Of the 10 former EMCC players heading to FBS programs, five have signed with Southeaste­rn Conference teams. In addition to offensive lineman Laquinston Sharp (Mississipp­i State) and wide receiver Dontario Drummond (Ole Miss) staying within the Magnolia State, former East Mississipp­i defensive linemen Sci Martin Jr. (Missouri), Darel Middleton (Tennessee) and Lashawn Paulino-bell (Vanderbilt) will all be suiting up for SEC teams this coming fall.
