quarter, then scored the first points of the second quarter to take a 13-11 advantage. That was the only lead for the Lady Mustangs.

A 3-point field goal by Starkville’s Jada Odneal started a 9-0 run that put the Lady Jackets up 20-13 with 3:54 remaining in the second quarter.

Outlaw closed the first half with a basket as Starkville held 28-21 lead at halftime.

The Lady Jackets turned up the defense in the third quarter and outscored the Lady Mustangs 10-2 in those 8 minutes to take control of the outing at 38-23.

Williams saw her team get the job done with its hustle.

“We’ve been working harder on that because a lot of times the ball won’t fall for us,” Williams said. “If we continue to hustle, we’ll get turnovers and get some good layups. That’s what it’s all about this time of the year.”

Outlaw finished the game with 20 points for SHS, while fellow senior Amaria Strong also scored in double digits with 12 points. Another senior Idalis Suell was next in the scoring column with six points.

The seniors will be recognized tonight when the Jackets and Lady Jackets host Noxubee County in the final regular season games.
