Apparent pursuit ends with suspect in custody

A suspect is in custody after leading Starkville police on an apparent pursuit that went off-road behind an apartment complex on Louisville Street.

The suspect, who was in a silver Toyota Camry, had not been identified as of press time on Saturday and it is unclear what charges they are facing.

Starkville Police were on the scene shortly after noon Saturday, where the driver apparently cut through a tight opening off of Louisville Street, before the small car continued north along the tracks before coming to a stop in the grass behind an apartment complex directly across the street from Crabtree Maintanence at the corner of Louisville Street and Gillespie Street.

Few details about the incident have been released, but SPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Brandon Lovelady did confirm an arrest had been made and that it was not related to a homicide investigation resulting from the shooting death of an Oktibbeha County man at West Main Arms apartments on Friday night.
