Lady Vols pick up 20th victory

MADDEN – The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers won their 20th game of the season on Saturday night by defeating Heritage Academy 59-54 in the consolation game of the District 2-AAA Tournament.

After losing a tough 44-41 decision to Winston Academy on Thursday, Starkville Academy (20-11) bounced back to earn the five-point victory in the event hosted by Leake Academy.

The Lady Vols were led by the 19 points of Meri Laci Archer, while A'johnah Baker and Caroline Wood added 12 points each and Lillee Alpe chipped in 10 points.

Starkville Academy will advance to next week's North AAA Tournament at Heritage Academy in Columbus. The opponent and time will be announced early next week.
