He was formally charged with domestic violence - aggravated assault and felony fleeing of law enforcement.

According to a court documents obtained by the Starkville Daily News through a public records request, Harris hit the female victim at the Waffle House on Greta Lane with his Toyota Camry, “leaving visible injury below her right knee.”

The affidavit also says three other cars sustained damaged at the restaurant. It is unclear how Harris and the injured victim know each other.

After receiving the hit and run call, SPD officers made contact with the silver Toyota Camry driven by Harris on Highway 12 and attempted to make a traffic stop.

Harris is accused of not stopping the vehicle and instead continuing north onto Louisville Street. The vehicle then apparently left the road near Gillespie Street, driving along the railroad tracks and coming to a stop in the mud some hundred yards or so from the intersection.

Police say Harris then fled on foot but was apprehended and charged a short time later.

Harris remains in the Oktibbeha County Jail and had an initial appearance in Starkville Municipal Court Monday night.

According to Oktibbeha County Circuit Court records, Harris does not have any prior felony convictions in Oktibbeha County.

Domestic violence - aggravated assault is punishable with up to 20 years in prison and $10,000 in fines, while those found guilty of felony fleeing could face up to five years and $5,000 in fines.
