Vols fall in baseball opener

FLOWOOD – It was a loss in the season-opening baseball for the Starkville Academy Volunteers.

After taking a 1-0 lead into the seventh inning, the Vols saw Hartfield Academy score two runs on just one hit in the final frame to take a 2-1 victory.

Pitchers Griffin Little and Nason Heflin had a no-hitter going through six innings for Starkville Academy. Howell Archer took the loss on the mound in relief.

Heflin and Little had two hits each for the Vols, while Archer scored the only run.
