REED

For dessert I had my eye on the limoncello and marscapone cake.
I like all the dessert flavors, but there's something nice about a bite of light lemon after a heavy meal.
Of course, the flavor was about the only thing close to “light” in this dessert: limoncello-soaked sponge cake, layered with marscapone and topped with curls of white chocolate.
And if you're wondering, like I once did: limoncello is not a stringed musical instrument shaped like a Sprite bottle (you may have to be of a certain age to get that one) - it's a lemon liqueur.
Son ordered a piece of tiramisu, which was appropriate given the traditional Italian vibe.
The Wife chose the chocolate mousse, which was silky smooth, and had a surprise inside.
Deep within the dish was a layer of something white we had to ask around a bit, and finally found someone who could tell us it was white chocolate mousse. Now we had wow factor.
Aside from dessert and the traditional bites of tribute (what my family offers since the check is coming to me), I didn't pay a lot of attention to the details of what the rest of my party ordered.
But most of us got a second meal out of it, and the vegans were happy. Good taste memories made.
Thanks, Victor and family.
