HOSA Chapter had been successful in competition in years past. The school offers two health science courses, along with sports medicine and certified nursing assistant (CNA) training. Students who turn 18 years old before completing the CNA course can become certified before they graduate. She said five Millsaps students placed in last year's state conference, with one student choosing to continue to the international conference.

“What's unique about those two is that students in health sciences can actually complete in health sciences and sports medicine,” Hogan said. “Here at Millsaps completers are given a certificate when they're given a diploma, and of course they're given the Workkeys, so they are able to get that certification, as well.”

Next week the Millsaps chapter of the Future Farmers of America will host its conference, and later this month HOSA will host several events as part of HOSA week. February is also designated CTE Month by the Association for Career and Technical Education, with several events at Millsaps and beyond putting CTE programs in the spotlight.

“We're just glad we had the opportunity to host all of these schools, and we hope next year will be a lot better, and we look forward to seeing everybody at the state competition in March,” Arnold said.
