Record-setting astronaut to speak at MSU
A former fighter pilot who has spent more time in outer space than any other human will speak at Mississippi State University as part of the university’s Student Association Global Lecture Series.
Scott Kelly, a retired U.S. Navy captain, spent 340 days in space as the commander of the International Space Station He will be the featured speaker at the event in Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
During his time off the planet, Kelly gained a massive following on social media, communicating directly with those on Earth to give them direct insight into his research and day-to-day life in the ISS.
He also has a twin brother, Mark Kelly, who was also an astronaut and is currently a candidate for U.S. Senate.
Kelly has authored three books, with his most recent — “Infinite Wonder: An Astronaut’s Photographs from a Year in Space,” features a collection of his photos from his record-breaking mission.
