Record-setting astronaut to speak at MSU

A former fighter pilot who has spent more time in outer space than any other human will speak at Mississipp­i State University as part of the university’s Student Associatio­n Global Lecture Series.

Scott Kelly, a retired U.S. Navy captain, spent 340 days in space as the commander of the Internatio­nal Space Station He will be the featured speaker at the event in Lee Hall’s Betterswor­th Auditorium on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

During his time off the planet, Kelly gained a massive following on social media, communicat­ing directly with those on Earth to give them direct insight into his research and day-to-day life in the ISS.

He also has a twin brother, Mark Kelly, who was also an astronaut and is currently a candidate for U.S. Senate.

Kelly has authored three books, with his most recent — “Infinite Wonder: An Astronaut’s Photograph­s from a Year in Space,” features a collection of his photos from his record-breaking mission.
