NORMAN, Okla. — Following a day of strong winds at the par-72 Jimmie Austin Golf Club, the Mississippi State women's golf team is in eighth place at six-over par (582) at the Norman Regional.

The Bulldogs battled the weather to roll in twelve birdie putts, carding a sevenover par (295) in the second round Tuesday.

The top six teams will advance to the NCAA Championship at Blessings Golf Course in Fayetteville, Arkansas, May 17-22. State has put itself in contention, sitting just one shot behind sixth place.

“Today was a true test,” MSU head coach Ginger Brown-lemm said. “The heat of an NCAA Regional, 20 mph winds and 6,400 yards of a great course at Jimmie Austin tested us. Patience was a critical key out there, and we displayed that in never giving up and fighting until the end.”

Freshman Hannah Levi led the Bulldogs, carding a trio of birdies in the second round. She is three-under par and tied for eighth after scoring a two-over par, 72 Tuesday.

Sophomore Aubree Jones rolled in four birdie putts to finish two-under par (70). She is tied for 14th going into the final round.

After the conclusion of the second round, sophomore Blair Stockett is tied for 33rd at three-over par. She fired back-to-back birdies on the last two holes of the second round to finish five-over par (77).

Junior Ela Grimwood had a slow start but birdied Nos. 3 and 18 to card a 77 (five-over par) and tie for 60th. She is eight-over par overall.

Junior Clara Moyano tied for 86th at 17-over par after round two. She was even through the front nine, but fell to eight-over par on the back nine (80).

The Bulldogs will tee off at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start due to expected weather. Live Stats can be found at Golfstat.com.
