The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announceme­nts should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkville­dailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publicatio­n and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Rotary — The Starkville Rotary Club meets at 11:45 a.m. at the Starkville Country Club.

◆ EMCC Launch Pad — EMCC Launch Pad offers free classes in Adult Education, Workkeys Prep, ACT Prep, Employabil­ity Skills Training, and Basic Skills Training. ◆ Casserole Kitchen — The First Presbyteri­an Church a casserole kitchen every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m.

◆ Al-anon meeting — Al-anon meets every Tuesday night from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM at The Church of the Resurrecti­on 105 N Montgomery St, Starkville, MS 39759. “Alanon meetings focus on coping with the effects of someone’s addiction, One Day at a Time.”

◆ Emerson Free Childbirth Classes— The Emerson Family Center offers free childbirth

classes each Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in February, June, and October. First week’s topic: Parent/infant Bonding and Breastfeed­ing- Nadia Mcclelland, La Leche League Leader. Second week: Pregnancy and Childbirth- Dorothy Clowers, LLLL, Certified Doula. Third week: Nutrition for Mother and Baby- Jacqueline Hodges, MS, RDN, LD, MS Department of Health. Fourth week: Infant and Child Care- Katie Buys, DNP, FNP, MPH, Family Nurse Practition­er. ◆ Magnolia Amateur Radio Club, will be having a day in the park event at Mckee Park on July 13th from 8:30 a.m. - until over. This is a non-profit group and public is invited. There will be a Get On The Air (GOTA) station setup where you can get on the mic and talk to someone who may be down the street, across the country, or around the world. It’s a great experience for kids as well and they’ll really enjoy listening to someone making a CW (morse code) contact.

◆ On the Grill at Parker-mcgill — Parker-mcgill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the Parker-mcgill staff.
