An Oktibbeha County Grand Jury has indicted a man for possession of a stolen firearm and for hindering prosecution in connection to his role in hiding two men accused of felonies.

Court records show an indictment for Daniel Moore was served on Monday, claiming he was in possession of a stolen Browning 12-gauge shotgun. The second count on the indictment says on Oct. 23, 2018, Moore hindered prosecution by harboring Tyler Mcdowell and Russell Williams, both of whom were accused of felonies at the time.

Earlier this month, Mcdowell pleaded not guilty to a residential burglary charge and is also accused of being in possession of a stolen handgun, according to court records. Williams has prior burglary convictions, but does not appear to be facing charges as of yet in the case involving Moore.

According to Mississippi Code § 97-37-35, those found guilty of possession of a stolen firearm can face up to five years in prison for the first offense, while hindering prosecution is a Class 1 felony in the state of Mississippi.

In what appears to be an unrelated case, an Oktibbeha woman is facing two felony counts of possessing and selling stolen firearms.

Amy Reece Shane is accused of selling a stolen Marlin .22 rifle, while the other count accuses her of selling a stolen Stevens 16-gauge shotgun.

Reece was served the two-count indictment Monday and she could face up to five years in prison if found guilty.

Another unrelated indictment was served Monday on an Oktibbeha man accused of possessing methamphetamine.

Court records show Brandon Hogue is charged with possessing the drug in an amount greater than onetenth of a gram, but less than two grams. If found guilty, he could face up to $50,000 in fines and a maximum prison sentence of four years.
