As Missouri running back
Larry Roundtree III provides a well-rounded running game for the Missouri Tigers.
Roundtree has been a major weapon for what the Tigers have been able to do offensively this season under new head coach Eliah Drinkwitz.
He has been especially good down the stretch of the season. Prior to a loss against Georgia, Roundtree had 345 yards rushing on 48 attempts and six touchdowns in wins over Vanderbilt and Arkansas. He had 185 yards on the ground against the Razorbacks alone.
That has been part of a very good season for Roundtree that has consisted of 184 carries for 851 yards and 12 scores.
Drinkwitz has given the football to Roundtree and he has delivered.
“I’m glad he has confidence that I can run the ball,” Roundtree said. “It makes me feel that the carries that I got, I made the best of them. It wasn’t more of, ‘Larry didn’t really run that hard.’ I always try to run my hardest, whatever game we play.”
Missouri quarterback Larry Bazelak has completed 196-of-286 pass attempts for 2,141 yards and five touchdowns, while Jalen Knox has 31 catches for 305 yards.
Defensively, Nick Bolten has 88 total tackles, seven tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.
The Tigers (5-4) can secure a winning season today with a win at Mississippi State.
Along with the victories over Vanderbilt and Arkansas, Missouri has defeated LSU, Kentucky and South Carolina.
“Our guys have shown a lot of fight and resiliency and heart just to get to this point,” Drinkwitz told The Associated Press. “I think it’s taken a toll physically, and we have to find ways to get these guys back healthy on Saturday.”
