Staying in bounds in the game of life

-

In any sporting event there is going to be an out of bounds marker representing a stop in play.

I can remember, back in the 60’s, a football game that was won by a mere few inches. One of the opposing runners has a clear shot at our goal line and if he had crossed it, his team would have won the game. The problem was that he was so close to the sideline that he actually stepped over the out of bounds line and the play fell short, insuring our team victory.

In today’s life many of us continue to practice what we are doing even though we may be stepping outside of God’s boundaries. Actually, we probably do not relate to these boundaries because we are so filled with worldly desires and needs that we sometimes forget or avoid what God is telling us to do.

In this game of life, we as Christians should be fully aware that people are watching our every move. They are hoping to catch us in places we shouldn’t be or in situations we don’t need to be in.

Some of us at times will make decisions on what the world tells us to do instead of listening to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Some of the time we will say I prayed about this and the Lord didn’t answer.

The problem with this is the Lord may not have answered the way we wanted Him to. Every prayer is answered, but it may not be in our time frame.

For us to stay in bounds in this game of life, we need to stay in the word of God and enjoy the fellowship of Christians. We need to continually reach out to the lost, but we also need our friends, neighbors, and our church members to help us stay within our Christian virtues.

Oswald Chambers once stated, “God is never away off somewhere else. He is always there.”

God is good and He listens. We need to wait on Him.

Prayer: Father I love you and praise you for being a loving God. You have blessed me immensely. I ask that You will continue to guide me in the direction You would have me go. Amen.
