Allure Salon holds fundraiser for owner who is battling cancer

- By CAL BROWN

Allure Salon will be holding a fundraiser tomorrow for its longtime owner Pam Edwards who is waging a valiant fight against breast cancer.

From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Allure Salon will be open for come-and-go haircuts with the proceeds going towards the expenses of Edwards’ fight with breast cancer.

Edwards has been the owner of Allure Salon since 2006 and for many years, she has always participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, which is a movement dedicated to helping communities attack cancer through donated funds, given time or awareness raised.

In 2019, she began fighting her own fight when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and when she was again diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at the beginning of this year.

To aide her financially as she goes through her fight, her Allure Salon staff will be giving dry haircuts at their location on the corner of Academy Road and Starr Avenue next to Maroon and White Realty.

“We will be giving haircuts to men, women and children for donations only. We’re going to have the Welcome Home Beef food truck here; we’ve got door prizes provided by Scotty’s Wine and Spirits. We’re also going to have a live DJ here playing some tunes for us as we cut hair,” Allure Salon Senior Stylist Nancy Norwood said.

Norwood said that she, along with the rest of the Allure Salon staff wants to do what they can to help their salon’s owner.

“Pam has just been a trooper for cancer awareness, and we want to express that characteristic of her by spreading awareness to metastatic breast cancer and raise money for her;

just any funds that can help. Pam is definitely a human being that pays it forward,” Norwood said.

Norwood iterated that Edwards’ resilience and spirit through her battle with breast cancer is an admirable quality of a proud woman.

“Pam loves her community, and we just want an opportunity for her community to give back,” Norwood said.

Tomorrow’s fundraiser will take

place at Allure Salon on the corner of Academy Road and Starr Avenue where there will be door prizes courtesy of Scotty’s Wine and Spirits, a live DJ, and of course, dry haircuts with all proceeds going towards Edwards’ battle against breast cancer.
