SHS teams finish event in top three

Starkville High School hosted the Class 6A, Division 3 meet on Thursday with the Yellow Jackets finishing second on the boys side with 108 points and the Lady Jackets coming in third for girls with 79 points.

Germantown won the boys district with 131 points and South Panola came out on top in girls district with 99 points.

The top four finishers in each event advanced to the Class 6A, Region 2 meet in Clinton next Thursday.

In field events, Elliot Mcgrew finished fourth, Judson Buckner came in third and Mcgrew fourth in discuss, Sterling Scott was second and Stacy Robinson was fourth in the long jump, Scott was second and Robinson was third in the triple jump, Leroy Hollingshe­d was first and Scott came in third in the high jump and Kenny Dean Smith captured first in the pole vault.

Hollingshe­d was first and Robinson fourth in the 100-meter dash, while Hollingshe­d was second and Robinson fourth in the 200-meter dash, Omarian Owens was second in the 400-meter run, Smith came in second and Grady Stewart fourth in the 800-meter run, John Geoffrey Campbell was fourth in the 1600-meter run, Campbell was first, Chris Bell was third and Rhett Schimpf was fourth in the 3200-meter run.

CJ Willis finished second, while Jayveon Perry was third and Robinson claimed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles and Petty came in second and Willis fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

In boys relays, the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 all came in second and 4x800 was first.
