Chick-fil-a announces renovation projects for next month

- By CAL BROWN

This past week, Chick-fil-a Starkville announced that its building will be undergoing renovations next month.

Beginning on Thursday, March 2, Chick-fil-a will begin a major drivethrough renovation project where the restaurant will be installing two doors into the drive-through.

In a video posted by Chick-fila Starkville on Facebook, restaurant owner and operator Jonathan Rogers detailed the project.

“This project is so expansive that we're actually going to have to close our restaurant for about two weeks during this time period,” Rogers said.

Part of the project is that it is so expansive that some of the dining room capacity will be lost. Rogers said in order to compensate for that loss in space, the children's indoor play area will no longer be part of our restaurant.

“We want to share this information with you so that you can actually enjoy the play area while it lasts over these next few weeks,” said Rogers. “We'll be hosting a ‘last slide' on Wednesday, March 1 for little kids and those of you who maybe grew up with the slide over the past 10 years; that way, you can enjoy it as well. We know that ever since this restaurant opened in 2012, this play area has been a part of the Starkville community and except for a brief period during COVID, it's been open the entire time. So we hope that you can enjoy this, and celebrate and remember the fun times that you've had here with us.”

Although Chick-fil-a will be losing its children's play area, Rogers and his team hope the renovation will help them better serve customers.

“Our vision is to be the most remarkable restaurant in our community, and we believe that this renovation will actually help us do that for you,” said Rogers. “That way we can serve you better, we can serve you faster, and more efficiently for our team.”

Chick-fil-a currently serves about 2,700 transactions a day, which is a mix between Starkville residents and students at Mississippi State University.

By the time the renovation project is complete, Rogers anticipates MSU students to return home from spring break and find a “pleasant surprise” when they visit the restaurant again.

But for those who won't be leaving town, Rogers urges those to find a local restaurant to enjoy during the time Chickfil-a is closed due to the renovations.

As Rogers previously mentioned, Chick-fil-a will be holding a “last slide” event on Wednesday, March 1 for children and those who grew up with the play area to enjoy on its last day before renovations begin and the restaurant closes for two weeks.
