When others call it impossible

- YARBER

When others call it impossible, God says: “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God” (Luke 18:27).

Are you faced with impossibilities in your life? What are you facing that has caused you to ask if there is no way out of this? Is there no solution to this problem?

There is no impossibility with God. How can we know this?

In the past, has he provided solutions for problems that seemed impossible? When there has been little or no food, and even less money, has he provided for you?

A widow had only enough flour and oil to make one more small cake. As she prepared to cook the meal, and then waited to die of starvation, God intervened through his prophet Elijah. By acting in faith and giving that little cake to Elijah, the flour and oil did not run out until the three-year drought was over (1 Kings 17). The impossible was made possible by God.

Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery — a slave has no power to free himself — and yet God delivered Joseph from the dungeon and into Pharaoh's palace as second in command of the country (Genesis 41). The impossible was made possible by God.

Are you a slave today? Not of men, perhaps, but of a destructive habit? Have you tried, but there just seems to be no way out? The impossible can be made possible by God.

Shadrah, Meshach and Abed-nego, three Hebrew men, were thrown into a fiery furnace because they refused to bow before a statue of the king (Daniel 3), but they came out alive without even the smell of smoke. The impossible was made possible by God.

Are you harassed at work or in your family because of your faith in God? Stand firm in him, and the impossible is made possible by God.

Robert Totman, a Salvation Army volunteer, was deployed, along with a couple other volunteers and a food truck, to the area hit hardest by Hurricane Katrina. He'd been told to expect to feed 250 people that day.

“By one o'clock, we fed 400 people, and exhausted the supply of bread for sandwiches,” Totman said. “More than 100 people remained in line, yet to be served. They were tired, hungry, and some of them desperate. We could see their countenance change as they learned there was no more bread. I stepped out front and, after speaking a few words of scripture and praise, I lifted my hands toward the sky and began praying aloud: ‘Father, we have all this meat for sandwiches, and all of these hungry people, but we don't have any bread. We're asking for bread now, father,in Jesus'name. Amen.' I lowered my hands and turned from the crowd. Just then a man pulled up in a cargo van, hopped out and said, ‘hey, I got a van load of gourmet bread. Do you want it?'”
