Mr. and Mrs. Scott Johnson of Jayess, Mississipp­i, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Heidi Lynn, to Nathaniel Warren Ball, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Ball of Starkville. The bride-elect is the granddaugh­ter of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Dunaway of Jayess, the late Mr. Jamie Johnson of Jayess, Ms. Eloise Stewart of Monticello, the late Mr. Wylie (Buddy) Smith and Mrs. June Smith of Tylertown. Heidi performed as a cheerleade­r, competed on the basketball team and served as President of the Beta Club, First Priority, and Mu Alpha Theta at Lawrence County High School where she was the salutatori­an of her graduating class. At Copiah-lincoln Community College she was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, elected as the freshman homecoming maid, served as a student recruiter and performed on the cheering squad. She continued to cheer at Delta State University (DSU) and plans to graduate in May with a Bachelor of Commercial Aviation degree.

Nathan is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Ball of Sandy Hook and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd (Jimmy) Brenner of Tupelo. He is a 2011 graduate of Starkville High School where he competed on the baseball, basketball, cross country, track, and tennis teams. He graduated from Mississipp­i State University with a bachelor's degree in kinesiolog­y, and earned a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from New Orleans Baptist Theologica­l Seminary. He currently serves as youth pastor at First Baptist Church in Clinton and volunteers as a board member of Jackson Leadership Foundation. The happy couple will wed on May 20, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Clinton.
