MS, passed away on

2023 at her residence in

Jackson MS.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Griffin Chapel United Methodist Church in Starkville, MS at 11:00 A.M. The final resting place will be at Memorial Garden Park Cemetery in Starkville, MS.

Public visitation will be Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Hairston & Hairston Funeral Homes - Starkville.

Marjorie Lou Mcnamara Davis, age 95, passed peacefully the morning of Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Montgomery Gardens in Starkville, MS. Mrs. Davis was born in Greenville, TX on October 3, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie and Homer Mcnamara, brother Homer Charles “Mac” Mcnamara, Jr., husband Frank E. Davis, and son Charles “Chuck” Davis.

Mrs. Davis attended

Leland High School and graduated from Mississipp­i University for Women with a bachelor's degree in biology. She and Frank were married December 27, 1949, at Leland Presbyteri­an Church. She taught at Nettleton School District then Grenada Public School district before retiring to travel with her loving husband, visiting all 48 contermino­us states.

A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, Mrs. Davis was a longtime member of Grace Presbyteri­an Church in Grenada. She selflessly contribute­d to and volunteere­d her time to many community organizati­ons over the years, including Daughters of the American Revolution and Palmer Home for Children.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her son, Richard “Dick” Davis of Starkville (and fiancé Melissa Swanson of Millport, AL), grandson Matthew Davis of Starkville, granddaugh­ter Mary Catherine Brooks (and husband Nolan) of Leland, and one greatgrand­daughter, Whitley Estelle Brooks of Leland.

Friends of Mrs. Davis are invited to attend visitation to be held Monday, March 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Mckibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada, followed by a graveside service led by Reverend Matt Schilling at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Grenada.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Associatio­n in her memory.
