Northport Has Good Week on Court

The Northport girls’ went undefeated last week with a 45- 33 victory over Cusick, and a 42- 32 victory over Selkirk, while the boys lost 65- 61 to Cusick before taking an 89- 44 decision from Selkirk. The girls are 9- 11 overall on the season and 6- 6 in NE- 1B league play while the boys are 12- 7 overall and 7- 6 in NE- 1B league play.

On Tuesday the boys’ tipped off in the early game against Cusick ( 16- 3, 122) and played a great game against the Panthers, with the Mustangs leading by one after three quarters Cusick closed out the game on a 12- 7 run to take the 65- 61 victory. Bruce Snaidman had 20 points for Northport, while Bode Seymour scored 17 points with 10 rebounds for Cusick.

The Northport girls took the late game from the Panthers ( 1- 12, 0- 7) by the score of 45- 33.

On Saturday the Mustangs hosted Selkirk and in the boys’ game against the Rangers ( 5- 14, 3- 9) a big first half boosted Northport to a 89- 44 win over Selkirk. Northport led 27- 11 after one and 70- 35 after three in the 45- point win. Pete Beardslee had a game high 31 points, and Dawson Baribault added 24 points for the Mustangs.

In the girls’ game the Lady Rangers ( 5- 11, 3- 7) were unable to keep up with the Mustangs in a 47- 36 victory for Northport. Belle Stark had 16 points while Alexus Stark added 11 points for the Mustangs in the win.
