THE BORG-WARNER/TREMEC T5 IS A FIVESPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION FIRST WIDELY DISTRIBUTED IN 1982. Though available for many different platforms throughout the years, it has been especially popular as a cheap alternative when converting to a manual transmission, specifically for Ford and GM applications. The T5 came equipped on many Chevy S-10s, as well as Astro vans, but a beefier version from the Camaro could also be used. If you want to row your own without breaking the bank, the T5 is a viable option for sub-300-ft-lb torque-rated engines.
