After cleaning up and painting the lower metal piece, a new piece of cork was used to insulate the glass from the metal. The cork also created a tight fit to hold the glass in place. Using a dead-blow hammer, the refurbished metal was installed onto the new piece of glass. The excess cork was removed with a razor blade, and the new side glass was ready to be installed.
