SLAMILY REUNION 2017

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

- TEXT AND PHOTOS BY JON HANSEN

AS THE CALENDAR rolled around to August and summer neared its end, it was time for Ft. Smith, Arkansas’s biggest yearly event, Slamily Reunion. Hosted by Keg Media owners Robbie and Keena Bryant, as well as a multitude of sponsors, Slamily Reunion is one of the highlights of the Midwest’s car and truck show schedule. With supporters like Custom Motor Concepts, Kustomz Ink Klothing, Solo Films and this year’s head sponsor, Specialty Forged Wheels, it’s easy to see why this show has grown to what it is today.

For the ninth year in a row, some of the best rides around converged on

Ft. Smith to compete for awards and cash prizes. Distributing hand-painted and pinstriped awards, Top 100, specialty awards and multiple cash prizes kept the judging staff at Slamily Reunion busy from open to close at

drive-through judging tents.

Although competing in the show is the main reason for many to make the trip to Arkansas, food, vendors and fun activities for show-goers of all ages kept everyone happy. A peppereating contest, sweet-tea-chugging contest and a vehicle limbo were just a few of the goofy games that kept attendees entertained when they weren’t perusing the rows of topquality custom vehicles.

Between the cars, trucks and bikes there isn’t much this show doesn’t offer to anyone who walks through the fairground gates. There were many new build debuts and SEMA builds from the previous year at the show. Clear skies canopied a weekend full of fun and good times connecting with friends during the show and after at the infamous after-party hosted by the Slamily staff. This year is the 10th anniversary of Slamily Reunion, so be sure to mark your calendars and expect big things.
