Be­fore he was a hus­band and fa­ther of two teenage girls work­ing as a fi­nan­cial man­ager in Hol­ly­wood, be­fore he was a mem­ber of the New York punk band Bat­tal­ion of Saints and be­fore he worked in a Green­wich Vil­lage bou­tique sell­ing sex toys to Aero­smith’s Steven Tyler, Joey Maya was known as Joey Wrecked, drum­mer for the Re­ac­tions, one of the sem­i­nal bands in the early South Florida punk scene. Maya’s new me­moir of sex, drugs, rock ’n’ roll and more sex is ti­tled “The Drum­mer of Mi­ami Beach” (Jit­ney Books), which he may read from (shouldn’t take much en­cour­age­ment) dur­ing a gath­er­ing at 7 p.m. Satur­day at Books and Books in Co­ral Gables.
