Tickets for the festival cost $85 per day or $225 for a three-day pass, while premium passes are $170 per day, $450 for three days. For an additional charge, you can join preshow meet-and-greet cocktail receptions with the artists each night for $125, and tickets to the popular post-concert jam parties start at $20. Produced with help from the Rhythm Foundation, this is the third edition of this ambitious festival, curated by Michael League and Snarky Puppy, the cutting-edge Brooklynbased jazz outfit that has three Grammy Awards to its name.

Snarky Puppy will play all three nights of the festival, offering world-premiere performances of music from the band’s upcoming album.

Other performers scheduled for the 2019 GroundUp Music Festival include Susana Baca, Bill Laurence (Snarky Puppy), Bokanté (which includes Miami’s Roosevelt Collier), the Funky Knuckles, GhostNote, PRD Mais, Michelle Willis, Innov Gnawa, Lucy Woodward, House of Waters, Maz, La Perla, the O’Pears and the New York Gypsy All-Stars.

League also will perform as part of David Crosby’s Lighthouse Band, joining Michelle Willis and Becca Stevens, which delivered a sublime performance of music from Crosby’s “Lighthouse” album at the inaugural GroundUp Music Festival in 2017. The three also joined Crosby on his latest album, “Here If You Listen.”

Lalah Hathaway, daughter of incomparable soul singer Donny Hathaway, shared a best R&B performance Grammy Award with Snarky Puppy in 2014 for “Something,” a song that appeared on the Snarky Puppy album “Family Dinner — Volume One.” Hathaway will serve as artist-at-large at GroundUp 2019, likely to pop up in several performances.

Other supporters of the festival include MiamiDade County and the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority. The North Beach Bandshell is at 7275 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. For more information, visit NorthBeachBand bcran[email protected]
