Local leaders hit the green to ‘Swing for Kids’ Sake’
On June 1 Miami Dolphins alumni Shawnwooden and Ki-jana Carter will host “Swing for Kids’ Sake,” a golf tournament benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County.
The event begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at the Lago Mar Country Club located in Plantation.
Participants are invited to enjoy a round of golf with contest holes including two hole-in-one opportunities to win a new car, furnished by JM Family Enterprises and Maroone an Autonation company.
Players will have the opportunity to compete in various putting and on-course contests.
Following the morning of golf, “Swing for Kids’ Sake” will also include awards, silent auction, raffle prizes and lunch.
Proceeds from the event will go to providing children facing adversity with strong, professionally supported one-to-one mentorship relationships with an adult.
“Having corporations and partners fromacross South Florida come together in support of our children will help to raise awareness and much-needed donations to fund the life-changing mentorship we provide,” said CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County, Ana Cedeño.
Top sponsors of this year’s event include: Publix Super Markets; Northern Trust; Maroone an Autonation Company; and JM Family Enterprises.
“We are here for Big Brothers Big Sisters to connect similarly motivated people and organizations. We provide a foundation for our children to achieve - they are the focus in everything we do,” says tournament host and board member, Shawnwooden.
