Actress Bailee Madison hosts lemonade stand to fight cancer
Actress Bailee Madison (star of “Just Gowith It” and “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”) was recently in town for an Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation charity event sponsored by Mercedes Benz Fort Lauderdale.
The event took place on May 12 at Mercedes of Fort Lauderdale and raised thousands of dollars in donations, passing out hundreds of cups of lemonade.
“This was a humbling event. It’s so inspiring for us to meet the families who have lost their children and who still come out and encourage us to continue to do what we are doing. There is no greater gift than the gift of life and we are definitely encouraged by the children, their families and especially the volunteers who continue to work effortlessly to find a cure until all of our children are healthy and happy,” said Madison’s mother, Patti Riley.
Madison was on hand to help pass out lemonade and also signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans.
“We made memories as a family and I’m hoping there will be lemonade stands all over south Florida,” said Madison.
“It was so inspiring to see little children being lifted up to the donation jar so they could put in their dollar bills, it proves that you are never too young to make a difference and each lemonade stand brings us one step closer to finding a cure.”
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a charity that allows people of all ages with a platform to participate in fundraising for a cause.
The foundation strives to teach children that no matter how big or small their actions can impact someone’s life and help fight childhood cancer.
