United Way’s Tocqueville Society honors Ray Rodriguez
OnMay 2 Keith and Doreen Koenig welcomed more than 100UnitedWay of Broward County Tocqueville Society members and guests for a private reception at their home located in Plantation.
Tocqueville Society member Ray Rodriguez was recognized at the reception as the 2011/2012 UnitedWay of Broward County Tocqueville Society Award recipient for his philanthropic leadership and volunteerism. He was awarded for his commitment to volunteerism, creative approach to serving the Broward community, outstanding leadership, long-term financial commitment and encouragement to others to get involved.
For more than 30 years Rodriguez has been a committed volunteer and donor to UnitedWay of Broward County. He served on the board of directors as treasurer and board chair, the finance and allocations committees, and a strategic planning task force that positioned UnitedWay as a catalyst for change. He and his wife, Cindy, have been members of the Tocqueville Society for 10 years.
UnitedWay of Broward County’s Tocqueville Society was established to deepen the understanding, commitment and support of the generous and community-minded investors. In the spirit of the French political thinker Alexis de Tocqueville, and his admiration of voluntarism in America, UnitedWay of America founded the Tocqueville Society in 1984.
Community leaders Bob Elmore, Wayne and Marti Huizenga, Bob and Millicent Steele, andWilliam and Norma Horvitz founded the United Way of Broward County Tocqueville Society in 1990. The society represents more than 100 individuals and couples who invest $10,000 or more per year in UnitedWay of Broward County.
UnitedWay of Broward County is a volunteer-driven, community-based nonprofit organization serving Broward County for more than 70 years. UnitedWay of Broward County mission is to focus and unite the entire community to create lasting change in the impact areas of education, income and health.
