Some like it hot: De­liver the Dream’s ‘Red Hot and In Style’ event is back

De­liver the Dream, a south Florida-based non­profit that or­ga­nizes re­treats for fam­i­lies ex­pe­ri­enc­ing a se­ri­ous ill­ness or cri­sis will host its sec­ond an­nual “Red Hot and In Style” event fea­tur­ing some of Fort Laud­erdale’s most el­i­gi­ble bach­e­lors and bach­e­lorettes – a new ad­di­tion to this year’s event.

On Feb. 21 phi­lan­thropists of all ages, back­grounds and ca­reers will be un­veiled at Fort Laud­erdale Ex­ec­u­tive Air­port’s Jet Run­way Café. Guests will have an op­por­tu­nity to meet the elite group of men and women, who will be fea­tured for ex­cit­ing date pack­ages, while en­joy­ing a va­ri­ety of hors d’oeu­vres in­clud­ing sushi, crab cakes and mini pas­tries.

Event spon­sors in­clude Dal­land Prop­er­ties, The Ru­bin Group, AlisonWiener, Blue­green Cor­po­ra­tion, City Fur­ni­ture, Forté Prop­er­ties and the Florid­ian Com­mu­nity Bank.

Plan­ning com­mit­tee mem­bers in­cludeNancy Bern­stein, Amy Kil­coyne, Natali Levine, Deana Li­cata, Kim Price, Alyssa Shee­han, Adam Davis and Matthew Tan­nen­baum, as well as co-chairs AlisonWiener and Kelly Ed­wards.

Tick­ets are $100 for VIP Ad­mis­sion (lim­ited avail­abil­ity) and in­clude ac­cess to the VIP cham­pagne sec­tion, ex­clu­sive re­cep­tion with bach­e­lors and bach­e­lorettes and re­served run­way seat­ing. Gen­eral ad­mis­sion tick­ets are $75.

Pro­ceeds from the event will go di­rectly to De­liver the Dream’s Fam­ily Re­treat Pro­gram, which helps fam­i­lies who have a child or a par­ent liv­ing with an ill­ness or go­ing through a cri­sis. De­liver the Dream re­treats oc­cur monthly and in­vite up to 15 fam­i­lies, free of charge, to get away fromthe stress of their ev­ery­day lives and con­nect with other fam­i­lies liv­ing with sim­i­lar cir­cum­stances. Each monthly re­treat fo­cuses on a dif­fer­ent ill­ness or cri­sis such as can­cer, autism, cere­bral palsy, mul­ti­ple sclero­sis, sickle cell or HIV.

Re­treat week­ends com­bine tra­di­tional recre­ational ac­tiv­i­ties like hik­ing and fish­ing with ther­a­peu­tic work­shops, peer-to-peer dis­cus­sion groups and ex­pres­sive arts and mu­sic ac­tiv­i­ties. Nearly 6,000 fam­ily mem­bers through­out the south­east have at­tended a week­end since re­treats be­gan in the fall of 2002.
