Proceeds from the event will go directly to Deliver the Dream’s Family Retreat Program, which helps families who have a child or a parent living with an illness or going through a crisis. Deliver the Dream retreats occur monthly and invite up to 15 families, free of charge, to get away fromthe stress of their everyday lives and connect with other families living with similar circumstances. Each monthly retreat focuses on a different illness or crisis such as cancer, autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, sickle cell or HIV.
Retreat weekends combine traditional recreational activities like hiking and fishing with therapeutic workshops, peer-to-peer discussion groups and expressive arts and music activities. Nearly 6,000 family members throughout the southeast have attended a weekend since retreats began in the fall of 2002.
