The Dolphins placed cornerback Richard Marshall on the injured reserve list and signed two cornerbacks.

DAVIE — The Dolphins placed cornerback Richard Marshall on injured reserve because of the back injury that has sidelined him the past month.

According to a source, Marshall has a blood clot in his back and he felt the injury could heal without surgery. But that has not been the case.

“Stressful. That’s the only word you can use to describe it,” said Marshall, whom the Dolphins signed this offseason to a threeyear, $ 16 million contract. “I can’t practice, even if I wanted to. I can do certain things, but I can’t do everything that I need to do to be out there.”

Marshall, who won the starting spot opposite Sean Smith in training camp, has been receiving treatment to help alleviate the pain. He also said he’s having a surgical procedure done on Thursday.

Before this injury, Marshall hadn’t missed an NFL game in his seven seasons.

It’s likely that Nolan Carroll will continue to start opposite Smith, and Jimmy Wilson will continue to serve as Miami’s nickel cornerback.

However, the team on Tuesday signed Bryan McCann, a two- year veteran, whohas played for the Cowboys, Ravens and Raiders. Miamialso claimed corner back Brandon McDonald off waivers on Wednesday. McDonald was waived by Tampa Bay on Tuesday.

McDonald, a fifth- round pick in 2007, will be playing for his fifth team since leaving the University of Memphis.

With McCann and McDonald, the Dolphins have six cornerbacks on the 53- man roster and one ( Julian Posey) on the practice squad. It’s also possible that De’Andre Presley, the cornerback released on Tuesday to make room for McCann, couldbere- signed to the practice squad.

Presley’s locker was intact on Wednesday, but he must clear waivers before returning to the Dolphins.

Thursday and kickoff on Sunday to the American Red Cross South Florida Region to exclusively support the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

“The devastation of Hurricane Sandy knows no boundaries, and I know I speak for the Dolphins and Related in expressing our dedication to help those in need during this difficult time,” said Ross.

Terry Bradshaw’s comment that could have been interpreted as racially insensitive. Bradshaw made his comment in studio for Fox Sports on Sunday.

“I don’t think there’s an ounce of racism in his body,” said Bush, who added he knows Bradshaw.

Bradshaw, after watching a clip of Bush’s 18- yard touchdown run against Indianapolis, said Bush was running “like he was chasing that bucket of chicken the wind was blowing.” Bradshaw apologized and said he was referring to an inside joke between himself and colleague Jimmy Johnson.
