Colts supporting Pagano, lose hair

-

Andrew Luck has joined the shaved squad.

Nearly three dozen players on the Colts have shaved their heads in a show of support for coach Chuck

Pagano, who is undergoing treatment for a form of leukemia.

Luck became a new member of the no- hair club Wednesday morning, according to ESPN. com. Players and coaches were not available for comment because they were headed to Jacksonville for Thursday night’s game, but a team spokesman confirmed Luck will look quite different.

That’s a laugh: Jets coach Rex Ryan laughed off a leaguewide player survey that named him the most overrated coach in the NFL, saying he was just happy to finish ahead of nemesis Bill

Belichick.

“My first thought was, I looked at it and I saw who was second,” Ryan said Wednesday on ESPN. com, alluding to the Patriots’ coach. “I was like, hey, I finally beat Belichick in something. I knew it would take time.”

Turning serious, Ryan said he didn’t mind the “overrated” label. “I wasn’t offended by it,” he said.

Pain game: The Eagles’ depleted offensive line took another hit when offensive tackle Todd Herremans went on season- ending injury reserve. Herremans hurt his right foot Monday night in the Eagles’ loss to the Saints. According to the Philadelphia Daily News,

Eagles trainer Rick Burkholder said Herremans dislocated a bone in the foot, which caused damage to surrounding ligaments.

Up in smoke: Legalization of the recreational use of marijuana in Washington and Colorado doesn’t change the NFL’s position on pot use.

“The NFL’s policy is collectively bargained and will continue to apply in the same manner it has for decades,” spokesman Greg

Aiello told USA Today. “Marijuana remains prohibited under the NFL substance abuse program.”

Extra points: Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck says he will appeal a $ 15,750 fine for a horsecollar tackle after a turnover in Sunday’s loss to the Bears. He said cornerback

Kelvin Hayden, who recovered the fumble, probably didn’t even notice. ... Bears cornerback Charles

Tillman told WSCR- AM 670 in Chicago that he would miss Sunday’s game against the Texans to be with his wife if she goes into labor. ... The NFL announced it has fined the Chargers $ 20,000 for trying to hide towels with a concealed “sticky” substance to enhance grip during an Oct. 15 game against Denver.
