THE QUESTION

Should the coach face disciplinary action? ( Note: After we originally posted this story, the coach was suspended for twoweeks.)

YOUR COMMENTS

I hope thiswas posted as a joke. IT’S FOOTBALL! If someone’s gonna cry about getting their head slapped while wearing a helmet, they don’t belong on the field. I’m sorry, this takes wussy parenting to a whole newl evel. If you don’t approve of the sport, DONT LET YOUR KIDS PLAY.

Matthew Scott Horbund

It’s football, not cheerleading!

James J. Ward

Every coach does this. I’ve done it tomy catchers and batters all the time.

Chad Collins

Oh for cryin’ out loud. Kneejerk reaction by the county.

Joe Szymaszek

So typical. Nowonder this country is so screwed up. Some need to get a grip. It’s not like the guy was beating the crap out of this kid. What’s next with these people? Coaches handing out sticky notes to get someone motivated? Probably not, since some idiot will say the sticky note was applied too harshly.

Paula Caravella

Yes.

Suzanne Russell

No, the kids love him. Even the boys family. So the media should stay out of it. Enough harm has been done to stain the Cypress Bay name.

Patricia De Biase

Give me a break. The coach didn’t do anything wrong.

Vanessa Sanchez

If a helmet can’t absorb the impact of getting slapped on the head, then what chance does it have of preventing any other injury? In that case, what is the point of wearing a helmet at all if we’re already stupid beyond repair?

Andrew Zoeller

Howabout give them all skirts and high heels and sit them downin a circle and talk to them about trying to be less masculine and more metro sexual. Oh, and give them a seminar about gay tolerance and hold hands and roast marshmallows in the hot sun rather than play a violent game such as football.

Jeffrey Troupe

Anyone who has spent any time playing highly competitive level football has probably received one of those ‘ smacks.’ Theymay have even delivered one. News flash: It probably stung the coach’s hand more than that kid’s head. The only thing hurt were his feelings. Time to buck up and play ball.
