Vikings reveal Ponder rib injury

The Vikings may have found a convenient way to take a look at backup quarterbac­k without technicall­y benching the struggling

The team, stationed an hour outside London preparing for its game against the Steelers on Sunday at Wembley Stadium, revealed Ponder suffered a rib injury early in Sunday’s loss to the Browns.

Ponder said the injury didn’t prohibit him from throwing normally the rest of the game, nor is it preventing him from throwing. Coach

said Ponder took the majority of snaps in practice, but reports said he was limited. He said his biggest concern is taking contact, adding that throwing is “uncomforta­ble, but ( the pain is) manageable.”

Wide receiverGr­egJennings said Ponder showed no noticeable affects from the rib injury.

“Christian’s tough,” Cassel said. “I don’t know his situation or how it’s going to go, but I’ve got to prepare like I’m going to play.”
