Alex Rodriguez had his first two-homer game since returning from his yearlong suspension and drove in four Friday, including the go-ahead run, as the Yankees defeated the host Rays 5-4.

Rodriguez, whose 658 career homers are two shy of Willie Mays for fourth all time, lined a single into center to score pinchrunne­r Brett Gardner with two outs in the eighth inning.

Padres 5, Cubs 4: Wil Myers’ three-run homer in the seventh lifted the Padres. The Cubs’ Kris Bryant went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in his debut. Mets 4, Marlins 1: Bartolo Colon allowed one run on six hits in seven innings and hit a sacrifice fly in the Mets’ sixth straight win. Braves 8, Blue Jays 7: Pinchhitte­r Jonny Gomes had a tiebreakin­g homer in the eighth and Freddie Freeman added a tworun shot. Red Sox 3, Orioles 2: Xander Bogaerts’ RBI single in the ninth lifted the Red Sox. Ryan Hanigan had a two-run homer. Cardinals 6, Reds 1: Yadier Molina hit a tiebreakin­g three-run double in the seventh to back Michael Wacha (2-0). Royals 6, Athletics 4: Rookie Paulo Orlando tripled home the go-ahead run in a two-run eighth. Stephen Vogt homered twice for the A’s. Indians at Twins: Reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber sought his first win in his third start of the season. Angels at Astros: The Angels won 12 of 19 meetings last season. Jered Weaver was 0-2 with a 8.71 ERA in his first two starts. Rockies at Dodgers: The Rockies entered 6-0 on the road but ran into reigning NL MVP Clayton Kershaw. Rangers at Mariners: Former Ranger Nelson Cruz had homered in each of his last five games for the Mariners. Diamondbac­ks at Giants: Jake Peavy started for the Giants, who looked to snap a seven-game losing streak.
