Angels: Manager Mike Scioscia met with OF Josh Hamilton this week for the first time in months and said he isn’t sure when the star will return. It was the first time Scioscia had seen the slugger since his self-reported relapse into substance abuse. Scioscia said the former AL MVP is making progress in his recovery from offseason shoulder surgery.

Nationals: Reliever Craig Stammen is scheduled to have surgery Sunday for a torn flexor tendon in his right forearm and could miss the rest of the season. Stammen, 31, didn’t allow a run in five games and four innings this season.

Brewers: OF Carlos Gomez was placed on the disabled list because of a strained right hamstring. He was injured in the ninth inning against the Cardinals on Wednesday night while beating out a close play at first base. Utility man Jason Rogers was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Rays: Evan Longoria was the DH against the Yankees, one day after getting hit on the left hip by a pitch. Longoria entered with MLB’s current longest games played streak at 252. ... LHP Jeff Beliveau was put on the DL because of a sore shoulder.

Blue Jays: SS Jose Reyes has a cracked rib on his left side and will miss this weekend’s series against the Braves. An MRI this week revealed the cracked rib and a strained muscle. He won’t play again until at least Tuesday.
