Saturday’s high of 93 breaks record

If you felt a summer-like roast Saturday, it was not your imaginatio­n.

The record high temperatur­e for April 18 was broken at Palm Beach Internatio­nal Airport on Saturday with a high of 93 degrees Fahrenheit. In West Palm Beach, the high temperatur­e was reached at 2:26 p.m., breaking a 1993 record, according to the National Weather Service.

At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Internatio­nal Airport, the record was tied with a high of 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

The mercury reached its highest point at 2:06 p.m. in Fort Lauderdale, hitting the same temperatur­e high for April 18 recorded in 2006.

Sunday is predicted to be partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs could once again reach the high 90s and in the 80s along the coast, according to the National Weather Service in Miami.
