Port following airport’s terrible example

-

Your recent stories about residents’ complaints about noise from airplanes implies that the airport is surprised by the huge increase in the number of complaints. I think they were fully aware of just how much of an adverse impact the airport expansion would have on the local residents but chose to downplay the effects for fear the project would have had a bigger resistance.

I believe the same thing is happening with the port expansion. The project is going to destroy significant coral formations and eliminate major mangrove areas. If an individual were to do less than 1 percent of that damage, they would be fined an enormous amount of money and face criminal charges.

The residents of local communities will face major traffic problems if the new Panamax ships start coming to Port Everglades. Those ship carry as much as four times as many containers, and many of those containers will leave the port on trucks. The politicians cannot figure out a way to control the traffic jams around the port now, but they think it is a good idea to significantly add to it.
