The Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience has named new members to its board of
trustees: Bill S. Hansson, Bonnie McElveenHunter, James R. Mellor, Bernard Poussot and Carla J. Shatz. Hansson is vice president of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science, as well as director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology. McElveen-Hunter is CEO and owner of Pace Communications. Mellor is chairman of the United States Enrichment Corp. Inc. and retired chairman and CEO of General Dynam- ics Corp. Poussot is retired chairman and CEO and president of Wyeth, acquired by the Pfizer company in 2009. Shatz is a professor of biology and neurobiology at Stanford University and conducts research about how experiences change brain circuits during critical periods of early learning and development.
H. Thomas Temple joined Nova Southeastern University in Davie in the new position of senior vice president of translational research and economic develTemple opment, from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he was most recently chief of the Orthopaedic Oncology Division, director of the University of Miami Tissue Bank, professor of orthopaedics and pathology and vice chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics. In his new role, Temple is responsible for building the connections, resources and entrepreneurial energy for the commercialization of NSU’s research activities.
