The Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscien­ce has named new members to its board of

trustees: Bill S. Hansson, Bonnie McElveenHu­nter, James R. Mellor, Bernard Poussot and Carla J. Shatz. Hansson is vice president of the Max Planck Society for the Advancemen­t of Science, as well as director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology. McElveen-Hunter is CEO and owner of Pace Communicat­ions. Mellor is chairman of the United States Enrichment Corp. Inc. and retired chairman and CEO of General Dynam- ics Corp. Poussot is retired chairman and CEO and president of Wyeth, acquired by the Pfizer company in 2009. Shatz is a professor of biology and neurobiolo­gy at Stanford University and conducts research about how experience­s change brain circuits during critical periods of early learning and developmen­t.

H. Thomas Temple joined Nova Southeaste­rn University in Davie in the new position of senior vice president of translatio­nal research and economic develTempl­e opment, from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he was most recently chief of the Orthopaedi­c Oncology Division, director of the University of Miami Tissue Bank, professor of orthopaedi­cs and pathology and vice chairman of the Department of Orthopaedi­cs. In his new role, Temple is responsibl­e for building the connection­s, resources and entreprene­urial energy for the commercial­ization of NSU’s research activities.
