Crews cap gas leak

Construction workers drilling for street lights along East Broward Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale struck a gas line Saturday afternoon.

It took hazardous-materials crews about 25 minutes to cap the leak coming from the11⁄ 2- inch line in the 800 block of East Broward Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Heiser said.

No injures were reported as a result of the 1:30 p.m. leak, and there were no evacuations, Heiser said.
