Hollywood Boulevard’s Walk of Fame has more than 2,500 stars embedded in it.

Fort Lauderdale has its own Walk of Fame, with 14 diamond-shaped tiles honoring such local celebrities as morning radio DJ Rick Shaw, millionaire H. Wayne Huizenga, singer Connie Francis and Gregg Newell, the “Father of Spring Break.” The walkway stretches north along the east side of State Road A1A from the Elbo Room at A1A and Las Olas Boulevard.

The Walk was started in 2010. The first honoree was Francis, who recorded “Where the Boys Are,” the theme song from the 1960 hit movie of the same name. That film is generally credited with making Fort Lauderdale an an annual destination for hard-partying college vacationers.
