Police look for suspect after man is shot outside convenienc­e store

HALLANDALE BEACH — In front of the red and yellow facade of the Kwik Stop Food Store in Hallandale Beach, the blood of a man wounded by gunfire Tuesday stained the sidewalk, and medical gloves and his clothing lay beside it.

Three police agencies searched for a gunman in connection with the shooting that happened about 1 p.m. outside the convenienc­e store at 805 Foster Road.

Police did not the wounded man.

“We are still looking for one person,” Hallandale Beach police Capt. Sonia Quinones said about the suspect in the hour after the gunfire.

The Broward Sheriff ’s Office and Hollywood police helped Hallandale Beach’s officers, including K-9s, search for the suspect, she said. Detectives could be seen questionin­g two men outside the store, and at least one was let go.

gun- fire was unknown, as was the victim’s condition after he was taken to a hospital, Quinones said.

Streets were closed to traffic in the neighborho­od a few blocks east of Hallandale Beach High School and south of Pembroke Road, as a Broward sheriff’s helicopter circled in the sky.
