Quiet, clarity amid wait for decision

- By Ira Winderman Staff writer

MIAMI — As Dwyane Wade moves closer to his Monday opt-in deadline, silence and clarity have moved in to replace some of the chaos.

Early Tuesday, Wade offered a simple post on his Twitter feed that read, “Good morning everyone . . . (I actually said this one).” It was followed by a smiley face

Wade has not publicly commented on his ability to become a free agent on July 1 since he said during ABC’s broadcast of Game 2 of the NBA Finals that his fate likely will be decided in July.

Amid that void came a variety of interpretations of what will follow for the Miami Heat All-Star guard.

Into that void came clarity from Wade’s sister, Tragil Wade, on her Instagram account.

Amid the re-posting of an Instagram photo of Wade’s father wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers shirt, Tragil Wade attempted to offer perspective on the timing, amid speculation of Wade possibly joining former teammate LeBron James with the Cavaliers.

In an Instagram caption, the account of Tragil Wade posted, “OK let’s be clear I’m posting this picture because it’s my dad and today I saw it on my IG so I was reposting.

“Dad is a basketball fan. He was actually a star Player in his days and a great coach after.

“So him wearing the shirt was his choice after observation. It has nothing to do with my brother I hope that helped somebody.

“I’ve been getting this pic on my dm and it’s all over my feed. This picture was actually taken 3 weeks ago. Dwyane Wade’s dad was rooting for the Cavs in the Finals.”

The chosen ones

The NBA has released the list of those invited to attend Thursday’s NBA draft at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Among two notable exceptions are Spanish League guard Mario Hezonja, who is missing due to the ACB playoffs, and Georgia State guard R. J. Hunter, who elected to watch elsewhere with family.

Marketing agreement

The Heat are one of 13 NBA teams that have entered into a multiyear partnership with FanDuel.

Through the agreement, the fantasy-sports daily game contest company will have access to a range of marketing assets from inarena digital signage and ingame promotions to digital, television and radio advertising, among other branding initiatives.
